Study on the Enhanced Shelf Lifetime of CYTOP-Encapsulated Organic Solar Cells

Organic solar cells (OSCs) are an attractive technique for next-generation renewable energy. However, the intrinsically unstable nature of organic compounds involved is delaying their commercialization. Therefore, it essential to improve lifetime OSCs significantly. Here, we investigated effect hydrophobic cyclized transparent optical polymer (CYTOP) as a solution-processable encapsulation layer based on shelf measurement, current–voltage characteristics, and impedance spectroscopy. We found that CYTOP utilization greatly enhanced OSCs’ lifetime, maintaining 96% initial performance when unencapsulated devices decreased 82%. Furthermore, dark current ideality factor (n), Cole–Cole plots, revealed effectively inhibit unfavorable changes parasitic resistive components trap-assisted recombination. These findings provide inclusive perspective issue commercialization OSCs.
